Its beliefs are based on the Qurānic revelation and the teachings of The Holy Prophet (PBUH) and have their own moral and legal system. An Islamic society denotes a fraternity that reveres Islamic Sharī’ah as a code of life in both individual and collective domains. In the Islamic history spanning fourteen hundred years, there has not been a single Muslim society with no Non-Muslims in it. Non-Muslims, in small or great numbers, have been an integral part of every Muslim society. Islam does not describe the rights of its followers only to the exclusion of all others. Rather, it is a religion that believes in the sanctity of all forms of life. Thus, it goes to great lengths to describe the rights of Non-Muslims and protected minorities living in a Muslim community. This paper aims to investigate such issues as the true Islamic stance regarding its followers' behavior towards different Non-Muslim minorities, their beliefs, and sacred entities. The Holy Prophet's (PBUH) way of life will be discussed as a yardstick to analyze Islamic teachings concerning the aims of the study.
ER -
