Abstract

This article aims to teach about self-purification and spiritual training adopted by the Chishtiah Ṣufī order. It is one of the major mystical chains of Islamic Ṣufī orders like Qādriah, Naqshbandiah and Suhrwardiah. Self-purification (tazkiyah) has been considered an integral part of the mystical journey towards Allah the Almighty which can also be visited in Qur’ān and Sunnah and earlier Prophetic endeavours. In this analytical study, we observe the fundamental concept of self-purification (tazkiyah) in addition to different practices exercised in the Chishtiah Ṣufī order. This paper concludes that the methods and manners implemented in this order may change the life of humanity providing them guidance towards inner peace and harmony in the human social life as its external impact. All these conducts may have different approaches and patterns to exercise in daily life but their whole philosophy and thought never conflict with the universal teaching of Qur’ān and Sunnah. Chishtiah Ṣufīs struggled to reunite the broken link of humanity with Allah the Almighty and worked for the restoration of every kind of disorder either apparent or esoterically
