Keywords:

Abstract:
This research paper explores the principles of Islamic jurisprudence and their application in the work of "Ahkam al-Quran" by Ashraf Ali Thanwi , a prominent Islamic scholar of the Deobandi tradition. Thanwi, influenced by the intellectual legacy of Shah Waliullah al-Dihlawi, made significant contributions to Islamic thought, particularly in the field of fiqh (jurisprudence) and Quranic exegesis. Ahkam al-Quran is a key text where Thanwi elaborates on the legal rulings derived from the Quranic verses, integrating classical jurisprudential principles with contemporary legal issues.
This paper provides an analytical study of Ahkam al-Quran, focusing on Thanwi's methodology in deriving legal rulings from the Quran. It examines his approach to usul al-fiqh (principles of jurisprudence), the role of ijtihad (independent legal reasoning), and his interpretation of Quranic verses within the context of Islamic law. The study also highlights Thanwi's efforts to reconcile apparent contradictions in Quranic rulings and his contributions to the development of Islamic law in the modern context.
Through a detailed analysis, this paper aims to shed light on Thanwi's intellectual contributions and his role in shaping Islamic jurisprudence and Quranic interpretation in the 19th and 20th centuries.
