LGBTQ and Modern Media: A Research Review of Islamic Teachings and Social Impacts
Keywords:
LGBTQ Trends, Islamic Jurisprudence, Transgender Act Pakistan, Social Media Influence, Gender Reassignment RegretAbstract
This article presents a critical analysis of the LGBTQ+ movement, examining its rise through the lens of modern liberalism, social media influence, and its conflict with traditional religious values.
It provides detailed definitions of LGBTQ+ identities and explores global demographic shifts, particularly the increasing identification among Generation Z, as evidenced by recent Gallup surveys.
The study highlights the legal and social challenges in Pakistan, specifically discussing the Transgender Persons Act 2018 and the subsequent backlash from religious and social activists.
Furthermore, the article delves into the psychological and physical health risks associated with gender reassignment, citing "sex change regret" and increased mortality rates. Drawing heavily from Islamic jurisprudence, the Quranic narrative of the people of Lut, and Biblical texts, the author argues that these practices contradict the natural binary of gender.
The paper concludes by emphasizing the role of religious education and proactive parenting in safeguarding future generations from perceived moral decline
