A Special Study of the Balance of Economic and Social Life in Islam
Keywords:
Tawhid, Riba, Zakat, Distributive Justice, TrusteeshipAbstract
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the Islamic economic system and its fundamental principles in the light of Qur’anic teachings and Prophetic guidance. The foundation of Islamic economics rests upon the concept of Tawhid (Oneness of God), which establishes that absolute ownership of all resources belongs to Allah, while humans act only as trustees and vicegerents on earth.
This belief shapes the moral and legal framework of economic activity, ensuring accountability and ethical conduct. The principle of justice and fairness occupies a central position in Islamic economics, prohibiting exploitation, fraud, dishonesty, and unequal distribution of wealth. The prohibition of ribā (interest) is examined as a decisive step toward eliminating economic oppression and class disparity. Furthermore, Zakāt and Infaq fī Sabīlillāh are presented as effective mechanisms for the redistribution of wealth and the establishment of a welfare-oriented society.
The Islamic concept of ownership is also discussed as a conditional right bound by social responsibility rather than absolute personal control. The study concludes that the Islamic economic system offers a balanced, ethical, and sustainable model capable of addressing modern economic crises, poverty, and inequality in a just and humane manner.
