This study investigates the nature and essence of the human soul through a comparative analysis of major world religions and classical as well as contemporary philosophical thought. By examining sources from Islamic, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and other religious traditions alongside Western and Eastern philosophical perspectives, the research aims to identify common themes, divergences, and underlying principles regarding the soul’s origin, purpose, and destiny. The study explores concepts such as immortality, consciousness, moral accountability, and the interplay between body and spirit. Through this analytical approach, the paper seeks to provide a holistic understanding of the soul, highlighting the convergence and contrasts between religious doctrines and philosophical inquiry. The research demonstrates that despite cultural and doctrinal differences, there exist universal concerns regarding human existence, ethical responsibility, and the transcendental dimension of life. The findings contribute to interfaith dialogue, philosophical discourse, and contemporary spiritual thought by offering a nuanced understanding of the soul’s reality and essence.
