Abstract

Translation is considered one of the most important means of cultural communication between nations, playing a significant role in transferring knowledge, sciences, and cultures across different societies. In Pakistan, translation has greatly contributed to the spread of the Arabic language due to the strong religious and cultural ties between the Pakistani people and the Arab and Islamic world. The translation of the Holy Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic books into Urdu and other local languages has helped people understand Arabic and become familiar with its vocabulary and expressions. Translation has also supported the teaching of Arabic in religious institutions and universities, in addition to strengthening cultural and media exchange between Pakistan and Arab countries. However, translation efforts between Arabic and Urdu face several challenges, including the lack of qualified translators, weak institutional support, and linguistic and cultural difficulties in conveying meanings accurately. This research aims to explain the role of translation in spreading the Arabic language in Pakistan, discuss the major challenges facing translation activities, and provide recommendations for improving translation efforts in the future.
