Abstract

The purpose of the Islamic sponsorship system is to take some property from the rich people of the Islamic State in a legitimate way and support all the social and economic needs of the poor and the disabled Muslims and infidels. An important aspect of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the support of family and society, but biographers in general have been very less inclined to it. In this chapter of Seerah, the qualities of the Prophet (PBUH) such as generosity, compassion and sympathy, and awareness of the rightful and benevolence, are clearly evident. In fact, by a bird's eye view of the blessed life of the Prophet (PBUH), this universal approach of the Prophet (PBUH) could be noticed.

The Prophet's Seerah and Ahadiths show the importance of public welfare and it also shows that this is the basic duty of an Islamic state. The Prophet (PBUH) took responsibility of education and sponsorship of the former children of Sayyida Khadijah (Rabaib al-Nabi) and the children of Sayyida Umm Salma (may Allah be pleased with them).
