An Exploratory Review of Shaikh Abdul Jabbar Bajouri’s Methodology of Tafsir in Ilham al-Rahman fi Hal Mushkilat al-Quran

Abstract

This study undertakes an exploratory review of Shaikh Abdul Jabbar Bajouri's Tafsir methodology in his seminal work, Ilham al-Rahman fi Hal Mushkilat al-Quran. Through a qualitative analysis, this research identifies and examines the key features of Bajouri's exegetical approach, including his use of linguistic and historical contextualization, incorporation of Hadith and Arabic literature, and engagement with classical and contemporary Tafsir traditions. The findings highlight Bajouri's unique synthesis of traditional and rationalist perspectives, shedding light on the nuances of his thought and contributions to Quranic exegesis. His method includes using syntax, Arabic poetry and Arabic linguistics. This research contributes to the field of Islamic studies, providing insights into the dynamics of Tafsir methodology and its ongoing relevance in contemporary Muslim scholarship.
